In response to the passage and signing into law on January 1, 2012 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a rally was held against the NDAA section 1021 on Feb 13th, 2012, at Vogel Plaza, Medford, Oregon. Over 75 people attended the rally with members of the Tea Party and Occupy working together with the theme “Conservatives and Liberals Unite Against the NDAA”. Details are provided from both right and left as well as information proved by Senator Jeff Merkley (D) and Senator Ron Paul (R) why they voted against it along with Senator Ron Wyden (D) and ten other congress people.

The fact that Obama signed it, despite his reservations or that his administration ‘won’t do it’ still makes it law – indefinite detention without charge or trial, that a president can interpret 1021 as they please – and you can be indefinitely detained because a president believes that’s what the law says.
